BMB On Break

It’s time again for a little BMB R&R, especially with the market behaving as bizarrely as it’s been. Maybe if we stop watching it start to behave a little better…

Posting will be very light and variable over the course of this week, but we’ll put up an open thread each market day for our readers to comment on the day’s market activity or to post any interesting links they might run across.

Check the space below for whatever the latest might be during this ‘off’ time, and please visit the various sites in the ‘Links’ and ‘Regular Stops’ for up-to-date market news and analysis.

BMB will be back in full swing by next weekend.

Dollar ‘Rally’ in Perspective

USD chart When you read or hear someone talk about the great rebound/rally in the US dollar this week, think about this chart. The rebound that has everyone all excited is that little hook in the red box. No, it’s there - if you look close, you can see it. Kinda makes you wonder where all those people have been the last three years, doesn’t it?

Weekend Sector Scan

Movement in the sectors was much like the movement in the indices this week — basically nowhere. A look at the table below will show that most of the recent movement in the sectors took place in the first half of the previous 8 weeks — there has been little to no movement over the last 4 weeks, except for the dips in energy and utilities.
