BMB On Break

It’s time again for a little BMB R&R, especially with the market behaving as bizarrely as it’s been. Maybe if we stop watching it start to behave a little better…

Posting will be very light and variable over the course of this week, but we’ll put up an open thread each market day for our readers to comment on the day’s market activity or to post any interesting links they might run across.

Check the space below for whatever the latest might be during this ‘off’ time, and please visit the various sites in the ‘Links’ and ‘Regular Stops’ for up-to-date market news and analysis.

BMB will be back in full swing by next weekend.

Weekend Sector Scan

XLE chart Energy stocks remain the big story. The problem is that most of the stocks, like the XLE, have come straight up off of a V-shaped bottom, and have provided little in the way of good entry points. Waiting for a pullback has been frustrating, just as it was back in February. And back then, the ‘pullback’ was the end of the ride for the next 10 weeks.
XLB chart Basic Materials finally had a decent week, and the XLB looks like it may have bottomed for now.
XLV chart Health Care finally busted above 31.50 on Friday after 6 weeks of going nowhere. Will it spark a move higher?
XLY chart Consumer Discretionary stocks broke free of the congestion around 33.00, but it looks like there is probably more resistance to push through just above 33.50.

Here are this week’s numbers:
