BMB On Break

It’s time again for a little BMB R&R, especially with the market behaving as bizarrely as it’s been. Maybe if we stop watching it start to behave a little better…

Posting will be very light and variable over the course of this week, but we’ll put up an open thread each market day for our readers to comment on the day’s market activity or to post any interesting links they might run across.

Check the space below for whatever the latest might be during this ‘off’ time, and please visit the various sites in the ‘Links’ and ‘Regular Stops’ for up-to-date market news and analysis.

BMB will be back in full swing by next weekend.

Good for Gold

…and not bad for stocks, just yet. Fleckenstein comments on the market impacts of Katrina.

What’s Hot, What’s Not

Items of note on the latest industry moves:

  • Strong week in the market, with only one group below the flat line.
  • Energy and commodity stocks still leading the way.
  • Gold and silver stocks had another big week. The next few weeks should be interesting, as the stocks seem to be hinting that the metals themselves may break out of their ranges. Gold is currently at the top end of its range, near $450.
  • Airlines and other transports are still being hurt by rising fuel costs.
  • Networking stocks look strong, but that move in the NWX is skewed a bit the recent big move in ADTN.
