BMB On Break

It’s time again for a little BMB R&R, especially with the market behaving as bizarrely as it’s been. Maybe if we stop watching it start to behave a little better…

Posting will be very light and variable over the course of this week, but we’ll put up an open thread each market day for our readers to comment on the day’s market activity or to post any interesting links they might run across.

Check the space below for whatever the latest might be during this ‘off’ time, and please visit the various sites in the ‘Links’ and ‘Regular Stops’ for up-to-date market news and analysis.

BMB will be back in full swing by next weekend.

Short Sighted

Bill Fleckenstein has three things that short-sellers should be aware of.

In the Shadows

Remember the article that Bill Fleckenstein was talking about last week? The one about the shadowy government statistics?

It has been made available for public viewing as of March 11th. Here’s a link to Gillespie Research, where you can access the PDF file.

I’ve read it. It’s a little long, but it’s good. You really should check it out.

What’s Hot, What’s Not

Items of note on the latest industry moves:

  • Networking stocks have given back nearly all of last week’s breakout.
  • The best group charts belong to defense, telecom, steel, REITs and the transports, excluding the airlines.
  • The energy stocks seemed to be regaining their footing last week, but this week suffered another setback.
  • Precious metals stocks, as well as other commodities, still struggling.
  • Quite a divergence in the real estate area, with housing stocks performing poorly and REITs performing very well.
  • In tech land, semiconductors and disk drives look to be in danger of breaking down.
  • For an even more detailed breakdown of group movement over various time periods, try Prophet.net’s Industry Rankings page.
