BMB On Break

It’s time again for a little BMB R&R, especially with the market behaving as bizarrely as it’s been. Maybe if we stop watching it start to behave a little better…

Posting will be very light and variable over the course of this week, but we’ll put up an open thread each market day for our readers to comment on the day’s market activity or to post any interesting links they might run across.

What’s Hot, What’s Not

Items of note on the latest industry moves:

  • Steel stocks. Amazing. Do you know that the $DJUSST is up 78 percent year-to-date? (see chart)
  • Pullbacks this week in housing stocks ($HGX chart), gold stocks ($XAU chart), and utilities ($UTY chart).
  • As we mentioned during the week, many other group charts are stuck in sideways patterns. I’d like to see a little more movement before getting too excited about trading at the moment.

D’Ya Think?

City Councilman Oliver Thomas said Jefferson’s victory would make the recovery more difficult.

“People are watching this election all around the country and I can only imagine what they are thinking,” Thomas said. “It will be very difficult to go back to them and ask them to trust us with the money we need here.”

Ya got that right - although I’m not sure you can imagine what I’m thinking. But what do you expect when you re-elect a guy that got caught with 90 grand in his freezer?!?!!??

Heaven help us.
