Wouldn't want to have you stretch your legs too much. Don't strain yourself.

When there's a hurricane there, we can get some pretty big stormy weather here--just not with the last couple.

We haven’t had much in Austin either. The last storm didn’t send even a drop up this way. Not that I want a direct hurricane hit, you understand. But a nice rain would be okay.

Austin is far enough in-land that I doubt you guys would get much more than a wind storm out of it. I just wish that thing would turn and make a direct line for Houston. I need my lake to fill up. Right now I have to really stretch my legs to take off from my dock on the wake board.

As usual, The Oil Drum has some of the best map porn showing the Gulf Infrastructure and the path of Gustav. I'm sure they'll be updating these images as Gustav continues on.

This is all true... But the problem is, it takes forever for the end game to happen. In the mean time, it is not safe to bet on any thing because every market is being manipulated.

The big question is, will the lemmings be bullish or bearish when they return?

Right now, I'm not confident at all about this market's chances heading into the fall, but I'm not betting that way just yet. And maybe I never will. As Peter Navarro put it:

My bottom line: cash remains King for the prudent investor. And periodically, I find it useful to issue this reminder. I used to play quite a bit on the short side. My sense now, however, is that shortselling is too vulnerable to headline risk. Too many central bankers around the world are too trigger-happy. So I wait for the trends to declare themselves and trade accordingly.

It's been quiet here since I sent the lemmings off on their summer holiday. My lemmings will be back right after Labor Day and so will the other lemmings. They'll all come back tanned, rested, and ready.

I'd have to agree David. 'Mr. Practical' and Bennet Sedacca (more from him later here...) seem to have a pretty firm grip on reality.
