This year, instead of mailing gifts, it'll be gift certificates in almost all cases. I mailed a 3 pound parcel post recently and it cost almost 11 dollars. That doesn't make economical sense. It's cheaper to give someone a walmart gift certificate than send them a gift--by enough that it matters. The post office needs something. Like the House, the will meet while reporters are not really doing a lot of coverage (weekend) and the Senate is even sneakier--they said they wouldn't be voting until next year. Instead they will do it before a large holiday.
