Doin’ Their Part
The gov’t does their part to help their own employment numbers:
A total of 270,000 goods producing jobs were lost (higher paying jobs), and the service sector was clobbered once again as well. Last month I stated “Government lost 5,000 jobs, a welcome event, but I expect this to change in the months ahead along with various stimulus programs.”
Indeed much of the improvement in the jobs report from last month was the addition of 72,000 government jobs.
It was nearly a clean sweep again this month with only government, and education and health services jobs the only gains for the month.
Indeed. Zero Hedge says we have the census bureau to thank:
…notice that the Census Bureau hired 60,000 people last month. Those workers (by definition) are temporary, and are a net cost to the economy, as they will not be adding marginal utility to any economic sector, the census being merely a social expenditure.
